Vivekananda Junior Forum : Cultivating Focus and Mindfulness
At SDCVV, learning extends beyond textbooks—nurturing discipline, mindfulness, and teamwork through every Vivekananda Youth Forum session.
The Vivekananda Junior Forum session held at our school began on a serene note with a soulful prayer song, creating a calm and positive atmosphere for the participants. The session was conducted by Shri Jayavel and Shri Mothish, who guided the students with warmth, energy, and insightful discussions.
Recap and Reflection
The facilitators started the session with a brief recapitulation of the yoga practices introduced in the previous forum meeting. This helped the students reconnect with what they had learned earlier and understand how those techniques relate to mindfulness and self-improvement.
Identifying Common Study Challenges
In a lively and interactive discussion, students were encouraged to share the difficulties they face in their studies. Many spoke about issues such as lack of concentration, distractions, inability to focus, and difficulty remembering lessons during exams. The facilitators appreciated their openness and assured them that such challenges are common—and can be overcome with awareness and practice.
Practical Techniques for Better Focus
To help students strengthen their concentration, Shri Jayavel and Shri Mothish shared a few simple yet effective techniques. They emphasized:
🌿 Practicing meditation and mindful breathing to calm the mind.
🪔 Lighting a lamp and focusing on the flame (Jyothi) as a way to train attention.
🧩 Doing one task at a time to reduce distractions.
🧘♀️ Combining these habits with yoga and daily mindfulness for better results.
To make learning more engaging, a short video was played, demonstrating how these techniques can be incorporated into everyday study routines. The students watched attentively and showed enthusiasm to try them out.
A Thoughtful Conclusion
The session concluded with the inspiring Swadesh Mantra, filling the atmosphere with peace and positivity. The students left the hall feeling refreshed, motivated, and better equipped to face academic challenges with clarity and calmness.
🌼 Takeaway
The Vivekananda Youth Forum once again proved to be an enriching platform for holistic learning, reminding students that education goes beyond textbooks—it also involves nurturing the mind, body, and spirit. Through sessions like these, our students continue to grow not only as learners but also as mindful, balanced individuals.
